Shannon Gordon, of Gordon’s Five & Dime sent an e-mail to me a while ago, with news of a chili cook-off.

I'm all about the chili. Hopefully I'll see some of you down there!
Nelson Amos Studio will donate 10% of its sales to SOS during the Chili Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007.
We won't be serving chili (we're not a food establishment), but the Nelson Amos Studio will be giving a free $10 Gift Certificate to every 10th person coming into the Studio during the Festivities. The Certificate (determined by a numbered card) applies to all merchandise in the Gallery.
The Studio is located at 9 E. Cross Street next to the river.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Shannon Gordon for getting this "Chili Challenge" together! Debbie and I and our friend George wandered all around Depot Town, gulping down over 15 different batches of chili—killing off the bad breath with the mints that were provided.
Many thanks, and I for one hope to see more events like this in the future.
Please do let us know how much money was raised for SOS - it seemed like there were a lot of people walking around doing this today!
Hey folks. I have some pictures from the Chili Challenge over at SOS News and Views
Gordon just sent me an email on the fundraising results and I posted it on the SOS Blog (www.soscs.blogspot.com). But for those dying to know, the Sidetrack's Cheeseburger Chili took first prize and the event raised around $800 for homeless families and others in need.
The event also rocked. Go Ypsi!
Excellent. Thanks for posting this great news here—we had a great time, and hope to see something like this again!
