You may have seen resident Dave Strenski's presentations on the solar panels atop the Food Co-op in Depot Town. Well, recently he suggested that the City might mount solar panels on the south side of City Hall - that big blank wall that faces inbound traffic on Huron Street. Not only could this help with the City's energy bills, he suggested, but it could also serve as publicity for Ypsi as a forward-looking, environmentally progressive City.

Councilman Brian Robb has suggested that this might be something a "Friends of" group could work on - since, you know, solar panels are expensive. I think this is a neat idea, so I hopped over to PledgeBank.com and set up a pledge. It goes,

"I will donate $50 to the YPSI People's Solar Initiative to install solar panels on City Hall but only if 200 other local people will do the same."

If 200 of us pledge $50 each to this project, that's $10k right there to stick up solar panels on City Hall. (If we don't get 200 people, we keep our cash. And I'll be sad.)
