April 18th, 2007 at the Elbow Room the band "Attacked by Wolves" are doing a set. They are from Ohio and they remind me quite a bit like Counting Crows. Hope to meet any of you there. :)
Attacked by wolves, captured by robots...This "elbow room" sounds like a dangerous place.
HAHAHA!! You are a riot Murph :)
Ok, not to be a downer on the elbow room....but what the HELL happened to it? I'm sorry but I just really don't like it. Not to mention that they don't sell pitchers anymore. What is up with that? I understand that the new owner is trying to make the bar more appealing and maybe upscale, but I was really turned off when I was in there last. I just wanted to go watch a band and get a pitcher of pbr. :(
the price on individual bottles of pbr has also gone up.
and, from what i've heard, you can expect much less diversity to the bands that play there, especially when it comes up to the line-up of individual shows.
and, they're no longer open in the afternoons, purportedly to cut down on the elderly afternoon barfly crowd, of which i am a card carrying member, thus they've lost 99% of my potential business right there.
the new decor doesn't bother me too much, i don't mind the idea of art in a bar, but the other changes seem pretty myopic.
tap room and tc's haven't jumped the shark yet, though, so i'd suggest you throw your money at them if you have any.
Oh I am almost a stock holder at Tap room I'm there so much. (It will be even worse when I move downtown in May) I'm just sad that elbow has changed so much. While I do like some of the new ideas they have I just don't like the direction. I'm sure that the price of everything has gone up because I'm sure the new owner has to come up with the money for the renovations. I hope that they end up keeping the bulk of their fan base in the end.
How safe is the revampped ER? A few of us grad. students are planning on going to the ER Wednesday and I keep getting asked this one?
And I just have to ask, what is the best bev. to order? I think melissa.karby would say PBR :) !
:)
I can only hope they ask in jest. You're probably about as safe in the ER as you are at your grandma's house (assuming granny's house is safe). But seriously, it's no less safe (or any safer) than any other area bar.
Katy,
Thanks for the reassurance. But, NO, they are serious and it was kinda freakin me out--because I have never been there and thought along the lines of your comment! Maybe my friends are total yella bellies!! :)
It got a seedy reputation somewhere/sometime, but it's wholly undeserved these days.
Katy,
Thank You!! :) I am tough, I will protect the weaklings!! :) (I am 5' 0" and weak as water!! haha--but fearless!!) So watch out ER here we come!!!
The Elbow Room was really fun and The group was incredibly friendly> It was very cool to have such access to the group you don't get that in bigger citie, I love Ypsi :)
