I live near the corner of N. Huron & Michigan Ave and have a guest for the week. Unfortunately, my apartment only has one parking spot allotted, and the N. Huron city lot has a two hour limit on parking. So far, dear guest has been playing the cat and mouse game with city parking enforcement, but I would imagine moving ones car every 2 hours gets old rather quickly. Can anyone think of a place where he could stow his car (safely) that doesn't have a time limit?
Oh, man! I was thinking you meant "permanent-like" (Guido cracks his knuckles). It used to be really easy, say a couple of years ago-- When the parking enforcement post was vacant. I'm not sure how tough this current "Meter-Cop" is on un-metered spots-- But he's a tiger on the downtown metered parking from 8am to 5pm, and I've paid two tickets recently to reinforce this thought in my own thinking as I go about my downtown tasks. I can't really give you advice on what's a safe bet, so: Can anybody help her with a sure-fire, safe, and ticket-free parking spot?
Does the parking lot in Riverside Park have a time limit? (You get to it behind Materials Unlimited). Not sure how safe it would be there overnight, but it seems to be pretty well lit.
I think it would probably be okay to park overnight at either of the lots in Despot Town, but you should check the signs first.
It seems like the residential permits Ypsi issues should also come with guest passes, such as they have at most apartment complexes.
I do believe that the residential permits do come with guest passes.
Try the lot behind the AATA station - free, no time limit. Just have to get there before it's crammed with students taking the #33 to avoid paying for on-campus parking.
Ooh, thanks for the tip. I wondered about that lot, but assumed it had a time limit.
And, in response to other questions,
* the Riverside Park lot is now, I believe, either 1 or 2 hour without a permit.
* the residential permits in the neighborhoods do indeed come with a guest pass. One per household, second per household for $10.
the neighborhood permits come with a pass, but the downtown permits do not.
